Alumni – The Shoreline

In 2009, fresh off the success of SMG’s first hit single, Casanova Williams attended a House of Blues show with an eye on a rock band he’d been scouting. While that group underperformed, it was the The Shorline who stole the night with a performance that left a lasting impression. Backstage, Casanova approached them immediately about signing with SMG. At first, the band was hesitant—SMG had never signed or developed a rock act but after a month of conversations, they officially joined the label.

Work began right away on their debut EP, Fake It Till You Make It. SMG paired the group with a producer known for his work with Creed and other major rock bands, ensuring their sound was polished and ready for a wider audience. The EP launched with thousands of units sold in its first week, landing placements in film and television and proving to be a breakthrough moment for the band.

From there,  The Shorline headlined their own East Coast tour, performed on the Warped Tour, and shared stages with artists like Boys Like Girls and Paramore. While there wouldn’t be a follow-up project, their impact on the Orlando rock scene was undeniable. The success of The Shorline showed that SMG wasn’t limited to one lane—we could recognize, develop, and guide talent across genres.
